ASTM F23 and F04 seek proposals for a newly announced workshop to address COVID-19 PPE Standards. The Virtual Workshop is on “Fast Tracking Standards Development to Address Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Shortages due to the COVID-19 Pandemic”.
The workshop will be held virtually, via WebEx, on September 9th and 10th, from 11am to 4pm Eastern, each day. ASTM Committee F23 on Personal Protective Clothing and Equipment will co-sponsor the workshop with Committee F04 on Medical and Surgical Materials and Devices.
Engineers, scientists, and medical professionals from around the world are sought to present on the need for standards development in the following areas:
- Methods/guides/practices to address reprocessing single use PPE and reusable PPE (including N95 respirators, personal face masks, protective clothing and coverings, etc.
- Methods/guides/practices for producing and or assessing performance of devices and device components that are in short supply
- Share perspectives on how existing standards helped you in addressing device shortages or how they could have been of more assistance
To participate, presenters are asked to submit a 250-300 word abstract outlining the new standards or revisions to existing standards that are needed. Abstracts are currently being accepted and must be submitted no later than July 26, 2020. Abstracts may be submitted by email to [email protected].
