ArcWear Expands its Standards Development Efforts in NFPA

ArcWear has expanded its standards development role with staff recently appointed to an additional NFPA Technical Committee (TC). Brian Shiels is now a Principal member of the TC on Structural and Proximity Fire Fighting Protective Clothing and Equipment. Likewise, Stacy Klausing is now an Alternate member.

Standards developed and maintained by this TC include NFPA 1971 and NFPA 1851. Brian and Stacy have a long history with firefighters protective clothing. Brian has been developing and testing PPE for firefighters for over 15 years. Stacy conducted research on turnout gear in graduate school. Afterward, she managed an NFPA 1851 Verification Program and testing on turnout gear components in a third-party laboratory setting.

Several Test Methods found in NFPA 1971 are currently in our ISO 17025 scope of accreditation, and we are in the process of adding them to our UL TPDAP scope for certification programs. We will also be incorporating our fire fighting expertise into our webinar offerings and consulting services.

This, and all NFPA Committee work, is performed on a volunteer basis and we are proud to expand our service to the PPE industry. Please contact us today with any inquiries for testing or consulting services in this area.
