A new edition of ANSI/ISEA 125-2021 on Conformity Assessment was approved on June 17, 2021 with updates. Three defined levels of conformity assessment are still outlined in the document. Changes to the standard include more, wider options for Level 2 which will allow manufacturers to disclose ISO 17025 AND/OR ISO 9001 to satisfy requirements. A declaration of conformity is required to declare which pathways were used to indicate compliance. Level 1 remains as self-declaration and Level 3 remains as third-party certification by an ISO 17065 organization. Components were added to level 3 and appendices detailing risk and discussion on choosing a conformity assessment scheme were added as guidance.
ANSI/ISEA 125 is still included as an option for conformity assessment in NFPA 70E, but ASTM F1506 did add specific conformity assessment requirements in a more recent edition of the standard. To view the new ANSI/ISEA 125 document, go to the ISEA website.
