ASTM D5733 and ASTM D5587 - Trapezoidal Tear
ASTM D5733 is a trapezoid tear procedure used to determine the tearing strength of nonwoven materials. The test method was withdrawn, but the method is still cited for use by the ASTM F1891 and ASTM F2733 Specifications.
ArcWear uses a constant rate of extension (CRE) type tensile tester to report the tearing strength for each direction of the fabric. This standard gives similar results to the ASTM D5587 CRE Trapezoidal Tear Test Method.
